4 Occasions Where Flowers Make the Perfect Gift

The gift of flowers is always a welcome breath of fresh air for the recipient. Flowers make excellent gifts for many different occasions and can be the perfect choice whether you’re giving a gift to a casual acquaintance or a close loved one. Here are just a few times when flowers make a great gift:
Birthdays
Who doesn’t love to get a bouquet of flowers on their birthday? A bright arrangement of flowers is a celebration of having someone in your life. When it comes to birthdays, flowers make a thoughtful gift for a co-worker, but they’re equally special when they come from a close family member or friends. When you’re not sure what to get someone for their birthday, think flowers.
Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day is the time that florist sell the most flowers. Of course, roses are Valentine’s standard, but you aren’t limited to them for this occasion. If your significant other has a favorite flower, a gorgeous bouquet of his or her chosen blooms is every bit as romantic as standard red roses.
Retirement
Coming to the end of a career is a major achievement, and flowers are a good way to mark the occasion. Let the retiree know how highly you regard his or her accomplishment by giving the retiree a bright bunch of tulips or a mixed arrangement featuring daises, carnations, and more.
Anniversary
An anniversary is a time for you to show your loved one how appreciated he or she is and to celebrate your ability to stick together as a team through whatever life throws at you. It’s not just women who can receive flowers on an anniversary. Flowers can also be a special gift for a man, especially when you choose flowers in yellow, red, and other less feminine shades.
There’s hardly an occasion that can’t be made more memorable with flowers. To order flowers and for help selecting the perfect arrangement, call Royers Flowers & Gifts at (717) 273-2683. We have a huge selection of top-quality flowers and can add on vases, gift baskets, and more. Contact us to place your order today.

Tips for Choosing Your Wedding Flowers

After your dress, your wedding flowers are one of the biggest style decisions you will make for your ceremony. Your flowers can do so much to set the tone for your wedding, from making it feel casual or formal to dictating the color scheme that is used for your table settings and cake. For most brides, the real trouble with wedding flowers is that there are so many options that it is nearly impossible to narrow down the choices. If you can’t decide which flowers to order for your ceremony, these tips will help:
Consider Your Budget
There are beautiful blooms to be had for every wedding budget, but it’s helpful to have your bottom line in mind when you shop for wedding flowers. Knowing what you can spend will let you rule in and rule out certain types of flowers. It will also get you thinking about the sizes of the arrangements you need, which will influence the types of flowers you should choose.
View Your Options
A little inspiration from other weddings will help you decide what kinds of arrangements you like and which ones won’t work for your wedding. Plus, wedding flowers can be so much more than a simple bouquet. Seeing what florists have done for other weddings may open your mind to opportunities you didn’t even know existed.
Think Seasonal
One way to approach your wedding design is to embrace the season. Flowers in fall colors like orange, yellow, and red can be beautiful at an autumn wedding, while pinks and purples are great for spring nuptials. You can also build your arrangements using flowers that are in bloom during the time of year you’re holding your wedding. Not only is this idea a nice design trick, but it will also help you save money, since flowers in season are less expensive.
At Royers Flowers & Gifts, we can help you choose the perfect wedding flowers from our extensive collection. Call us at (717) 273-2683 for advice on building wedding flower arrangements and to place an order.

How to Choose the Right Vase for Your Flower Arrangement

You can have the most gorgeous bouquet of flowers in the world, but if you choose the wrong vase, you won’t be able to enjoy their beauty. Sticking flowers in a vase that doesn’t fit can look awkward and sloppy and lessen their impact. Selecting the right vase comes down to considering the size and shape of your blooms.
In this video, learn which kinds of vases work best with which flowers. You’ll learn that tall and slender vases work great for long-stemmed flowers, while a small, round vase is perfect for short-stemmed varieties. Mixed arrangements call for a wide, heavy vase. You will also get tips for working with a single flower and what to do if you cut your stems too short.
At Royer’s Flowers & Gifts, we can match the perfect vase with our stunning arrangements, taking the guess work out of the process. Call us at (717) 769-1413 to learn about our selection and to place an order.

Save Money, Support Local Business

Supporting local business is essential for the economic and environmental prosperity of America. Local business success is good for everyone involved, from the owner to vendors to you, the customer. When you support local florists, grocers, restaurateurs, and other entrepreneurs, you put more money back into the local economy and your pocketbook.
Supporting local business means lower prices.
Unbeknownst to most customers, national chains must mark up their prices to account for their large infrastructures. When you pay for roses from a faceless corporation or gift baskets from a nationwide business, you’re not just paying for that item; you’re paying for the additional costs that go into shipping those wares to the store, the fees that factor into the company’s marketing strategies, and even the price of the CEO’s personal expenditures. Local businesses don’t have those added expenses. When you buy from a local business, what you see is what you get. You won’t be paying for anything other than the service or product you want.
Supporting local business creates more jobs.
By supporting local business, you may be creating a job for your neighbor. When you buy from neighborhood florists, you might be giving those in your area the chance to provide for their families. When your community is healthy and thriving, it means less money is needed for unemployment services. It can also translate into less crime and poverty, which means less tax money is required to combat these problems. In the end, both your neighborhood and your bank account benefit.
Supporting local business reduces our carbon footprint.
Local businesses like working with local vendors. Not only does it cost less to work with other area entrepreneurs, but also it means less natural resources are needed for transportation expenses. Not only will you be saving the environment when you buy local wedding flowers, groceries, or other desired wares, but you also will be benefiting from the savings passed on from the business to you.
Royer’s Flowers & Gifts has 17 south central Pennsylvania locations that offer customers the best quality floral arrangements and gift baskets. Our florists can provide beautiful wedding flowers, holiday flowers, and sympathy flowers to suit every style and budget. How to Plan for Ordering Wedding Flowers

The perfect wedding day often belies the months of preparation and decision-making that go into making it that way. Wedding flowers are no exception. Planning a wedding requires picking out a bridal bouquet, boutonnières, centerpieces, and more. However, florists can make this process all the easier for the happy couple. No matter your personal taste or budget, a florist can make your special day memorable with beautiful wedding flowers. When selecting a florist for your nuptials, be sure to ask yourself the following questions ahead of time.
What kind of flowers do I want?
Wedding flowers come in all styles and shades, so it’s up to each bride and groom to select the arrangement that best reflects their individuality. Do you want the classic elegance of calla lilies? Are you throwing a whimsical affair better suited for gerbera daises? Whatever your personal flair, floristscan help you select the wedding flowers that will show it off.
How will I be using my floral arrangements?
The most common use for wedding flowers is the bridal bouquet. Many times, the bridesmaid flowers will mirror that of the bride, as will the groom and groomsmen’s boutonnières. Other floral arrangements to consider are the altar flowers, chair decorations, and the reception centerpieces. Florists can make sure that all floral pieces are accounted for and elegantly assembled so that they present a coherent vision for your wedding. Instead of trying to take care of all floral arrangement details yourself, let an experienced florist do it for you.
What is my budget?
Wedding experts advise brides and grooms to set aside eight percent of their total wedding budget for the floral arrangements, and florists can make sure that budget doesn’t balloon out of control. Once you inform your florist of your budget, you can plan together how to hit that target. Florists can determine which floral pieces are essential and which can be simplified. Florists can also help with choosing alternate arrangements that may be less expensive than your original selections.

If you’re planning a wedding, Royer’s Flowers & Gifts can provide beautiful and affordable floral arrangements for your special day. Our 17 south central Pennsylvania locations offer a wide selection of wedding flowers for every budget. To speak with one of our experienced florists, please call (717) 769-1413.
